The program was organized in the premises of Agomon Homestay. The owner of the homestay, Abhijit Patra, and local youth Rabiul Sheikh extended their valuable support in making this initiative successful.

On 20 June 2026, a Zakat distribution program was organized at the hall of Kharibari Fish Traders’ Association under the initiative of SIFAT, a social organization based in Barasat. Around 150 underprivileged and distressed beneficiaries received support in the form of goats, van rickshaws, sewing machines, capital for small businesses, medical assistance, house repair grants, and educational support.
On the following day, 21 June, another distribution program was conducted from SIFAT’s office at Jagadighata, Barasat, where nearly 300 underprivileged individuals received Zakat support materials. In addition, educational supplies were distributed among 160 students.
Dr. Sekh Abdul Azim, Secretary of the organization, stated that for nearly 25 years, SIFAT has been working to ensure that Zakat reaches genuine beneficiaries through a careful verification and selection process.
Alongside the Zakat distribution activities during the Kharibari visit, there was also an opportunity to observe the region’s fishery-based economy, extensive fish farms, and the rapid development of the rural community. This initiative, combining humanitarian service with efforts toward self-reliance, is truly commendable.

Marhoom Alhaj Abdur Rab Bin Ismail Sewing Training Center
The vocational training institute of the organization is located at Iqra Academic Foundation, near Ideal Nursing Home in Bonmalipur, Barasat. Another branch has been opened in Dakshin Kajipara. So far, a total of 81 underprivileged women have completed training and become self-reliant. Every year, after completing the training program, successful students receive certificates in a formal ceremony. All expenses of these training centers, along with the operational costs of the main organization, are managed through monthly contributions and donations from trustee members, life members, advisory committee members, and other patrons. Zakat funds collected by the organization are never used for these expenses.
Bi-cycle Distribution
One of important initiatives of the organization is the distribution of bicycles to underprivileged students, ensuring they have easy and affordable transportation to school. Many students in rural and financially struggling families face difficulties reaching their educational institutions due to long distances and lack of transportation. Through providing bicycles, we help reduce school dropouts, promote education, and support their journey toward a brighter future.
Health Camp
We also focus on promoting rural health, recognizing that good health is essential for overall well-being. Through our initiatives, we raise awareness about maintaining good health and the importance of family welfare. A key aspect of our mission is organizing health camps in rural, suburban, and slum areas. These camps educate the community on preventive healthcare, addressing critical issues like eye care and HIV/AIDS prevention. Renowned health professionals and doctors collaborate with us to provide free consultations, treatments, and medicines to patients. We also provide wheel chair to disabled
Animal Husbandry and Fishery
We provide training on rearing cows, goats, and fishery to empower underprivileged individuals with the skills needed for sustainable livelihoods. These training programs aim to improve the financial stability of families, especially in rural areas, by teaching them effective animal husbandry practices and fish farming techniques. By enhancing their knowledge and providing practical skills, we enable them to create income-generating opportunities and improve their quality of life.
Cycle van Distribution
We have provided cycle vans to economically backward individuals to help them earn a livelihood. These vans allow them to engage in activities like transporting goods, delivering services, or running small businesses. This effort enables individuals to improve their income and become more self-sufficient, ultimately uplifting their economic situation and enhancing their quality of life.
As part of our educational development efforts, we run a coaching center where underprivileged students receive free education. This initiative aims to provide equal learning opportunities to children who cannot afford private tuition, helping them improve their academic performance and access a better future. The center plays a key role in supporting their educational journey and enabling them to achieve their full potential.
House Repairing
We provide assistance to individuals affected by natural disasters by offering financial support to help repair their damaged houses. Our aim is to ease the burden of those who have lost their homes and possessions due to unforeseen calamities. Through this initiative, we help them rebuild their lives, restore their homes, and regain a sense of stability, contributing to their recovery and long-term well-being.
